About Gregory A.
Gregory A. Petit earned a B.A. in economics from Lawrence University in 1990 and a J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 1993. He moved through the typical early steps of a legal career: a judicial clerkship, internships, and then positions at private firms. Those formative years set the stage for a practice spanning more than three decades in Wisconsin.
His first legal role after law school was a judicial clerkship for the Outagamie County Circuit Court in 1991. He followed that with internships in 1992 at the Outagamie County District Lawyer’s Office and at the firm Dempsey, Magnusen, Williamson & Lampe. In 1993 he worked as an associate at Kabasta, Rathjen & Bickford and also practiced at the Kachinsky Law Office. By 1996 he became a partner at Kachinsky & Petit. Two firm formations followed in the 2000s: he was a founding partner of Petit, Parker & Dommershausen in 2003 and of Petit & Dommershausen S.C. in 2007.
Petit is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin and to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He has combined courtroom work from his early clerkship with years in private practice. That background includes litigation and client representation in state courts.
