About Grant Ian

Grant Ian Schwarz took a conventional path into law, starting with a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany in 2004 and finishing law school at St. Thomas University School of Law in 2007. His academic record set a steady pace. It led quickly to practical work in a busy local courthouse.

Fresh out of law school, Schwarz joined the Broward State Lawyer’s Office as an assistant state lawyer in 2007. That early role put him behind the prosecutorial table. He handled courtroom calendars, prepared charges and learned the rhythms of trial practice from the government side. The experience gave him an early view of case preparation and the pressures of public-sector work.

In 2011 he moved from prosecution to defense, taking the position of lead criminal defense lawyer at Dell & Schaefer, Florida Criminal Defense Lawyers. At Dell & Schaefer he managed serious criminal cases and stepped into a leadership role on defense teams. The shift from state lawyer to lead defense counsel changed his courtroom perspective. It also deepened his familiarity with the tactics prosecutors use and the defenses that can be mounted when the stakes are high.

Two years later Schwarz opened his own practice. In 2013 he became owner of Grant Schwarz, PA. Running a solo practice required different skills than either of his earlier jobs. He took on business decisions and client intake, while continuing to try cases and handle pretrial work. The move into private practice gave him direct control over case strategy and client relationships.

Over time his work expanded across multiple jurisdictions. He is admitted to practice in Florida, New York and the District of Columbia. That multi-jurisdictional standing informs how he prepares cases that touch state and federal procedures. It also influences how he advises clients who face charges in more than one forum.

Schwarz’s career recounts a steady rise through distinct roles: assistant state lawyer, lead defense counsel at a regional firm, and owner of his own practice. Those positions map a professional arc from government service to private defense and firm management. He now works through GS LAW GROUP, where he continues to handle criminal matters, courtroom practice and related litigation tasks. His current practice concentrates on representing clients in criminal cases across the jurisdictions where he is admitted.
