About Gilberto
Gilberto Oliver earned his Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 1995, after beginning his legal studies in 1991. His law school years coincided with a period of change in local practice, and the degree prepared him for both courtroom work and the procedural demands of notarial duties in Puerto Rico.
He launched his professional career in 1996 as an associate at McConnell Valdés. At that firm he cut his teeth on the practical side of law practice and learned the rhythms of working inside a larger legal office. A few years later he moved into private practice and now serves as partner at Abogado Notario Gilberto Oliver. He carries the dual role of attorney and notary public, a combination that shapes how he advises clients and structures transactions.
Oliver is admitted to practice in Puerto Rico and is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and the First Circuit. Those admissions allow him to handle matters that begin in local courts and extend into the federal system. He is a current member of the Puerto Rico Bar and belongs to the Colegio de Notarios de Puerto Rico, affiliations that reflect his standing in both the bar and the community of notaries.
In the office he spends considerable time on matters that require formal notarial acts, drafting and witnessing documents that must meet strict statutory requirements. He also represents clients in proceedings where his court admissions apply. The notary role is central to his daily practice; it requires attention to procedural detail and an understanding of local recording and authentication rules.
Colleagues describe him as steady and practical in his approach to client problems. He tends to prioritize clear steps and predictable outcomes over sweeping legal theories. That approach resonates with clients who are seeking enforceable documents, reliable certifications, and representation that fits within established procedural frameworks.
Outside of courtroom and notarial work he remains connected to the local legal community through his bar and notary memberships. He continues to maintain an active practice from his office at Abogado Notario Gilberto Oliver, where he handles matters that require both legal representation and notarial services. His current practice focuses on notarial duties and representation in Puerto Rico and in the federal courts where he is admitted.
