About George Lynnwood Freeman
George Lynnwood Freeman IV followed a measured path into the law. He completed a Bachelor of Arts at Virginia Tech in 2002, then enrolled at the University of Baltimore School of Law and earned his J.D. in 2010. Those years set the groundwork for a career spent largely in Virginia courts.
After law school Freeman moved into public service. In 2011 he joined the Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Lawyer’s Office as a Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Lawyer. In that role he handled courtroom matters for the commonwealth, working on caseloads that required courtroom preparation, plea negotiations and trial work. The position gave him regular, hands-on experience in state criminal procedure and court practice.
A turn to private practice came in 2020. Freeman opened the Law Offices of George L. Freeman, IV, PLLC and assumed the role of owner and lawyer. Running a small firm shifted his day-to-day responsibilities. He moved from a single institutional employer to managing a practice, overseeing client intake, and handling filings and hearings on behalf of individuals who come to his office for representation.
Outside the office he maintains ties to the legal community. He is a current member of the Fairfax Bar Association. That connection keeps him plugged into local court developments and peer discussions. Colleagues note that his background in the county commonwealth’s office gives him a practical view of how local prosecutors and defense counsel approach cases.
Freeman’s work reads like the arc of many lawyers who move from public prosecution into private practice. He draws on courtroom experience accumulated in Fairfax County and applies it to matters that arise in Virginia state courts. He operates his own firm and remains engaged with the bar in the region. His current practice represents clients in state court matters in Virginia.
