About Geoffrey E.
Geoffrey E. Sherman studied criminology before turning to law. He earned a B.A. from the University of Florida in 2005 and completed his J.D. at Shepard Broad Law Center, Nova Southeastern University in 2008. Those academic years set the stage for a career that combines litigation in federal courts and work tied to transactional and title matters.
Sherman began his legal career at Oppenheim Law in 2008 as an associate after finishing law school. He stayed with the firm, rising through the ranks over the next seven years. In 2015 he was named a partner at Oppenheim Law. That same year he also took on the role of general counsel at Weston Title, a position that placed him on the corporate side of title and closing work while he continued his firm responsibilities.
He is admitted to practice in Florida and in several federal forums. His admissions include the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the U.S. Tax Court. Those credentials allow him to appear in both state and federal courts and to handle matters that touch on federal tax issues and district-court litigation.
Colleagues describe Sherman as methodical in his legal work. He has handled matters at a firm that serves a range of clients, and his dual role as partner and in-house counsel offered experience on both procedural litigation and transactional sides of practice. The combination of firm partnership and corporate counsel duties provided a steady exposure to title issues, closing processes, and litigation when disputes arose.
Practically minded in his approach, Sherman balances courtroom readiness and client counseling. He remains based at Oppenheim Law, where he practices and represents clients in state and federal proceedings. His current practice focuses on matters that arise in those jurisdictions and on issues connected to title and closing work through his continuing association with Weston Title.
