About Gary S.
Gary S. Weiss earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1987. He continued his legal education at Loyola University Chicago School of Law and received his J.D. in 1990. Those years framed the early arc of a career that moved quickly from the classroom to the courtroom.
After law school, Weiss gained admission to the Illinois bar and to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1990. He has maintained those admissions continuously. The combination of state and federal court credentials has allowed him to handle matters that require courtroom experience at multiple levels.
Even before his admission to the bar, Weiss spent time in roles that bridged practice and teaching. In 1988 he volunteered as a lawyer for Chicago Catholic Charities, taking on client work in a public-service setting. The following year he returned to Loyola University Chicago School of Law as an assistant teacher of trial practice and as an assistant appellate advocacy teacher. Those teaching posts suggest a grounding in both trial advocacy and appellate procedure, and they exposed him to the demands of preparing cases for both bench and jury.
In private practice, Weiss established the Law Offices of Gary S. Weiss, PC. The firm name appears on his public profile and represents the primary office through which he accepts client matters. He is also a member of the State Bar of Illinois and has belonged to the Federal Court for the Northern District of Illinois bar since 1990. Since 2010 he has been listed as a member of The Blue Book Construction Network, a professional organization that connects lawyers and construction industry professionals.
Weiss’s background in trial practice instruction and appellate advocacy places litigation at the center of his professional training. He has handled matters that require familiarity with courtroom procedure, written briefs, and oral advocacy. Those early teaching roles and his continuous court admissions suggest a practice comfortable with adversarial proceedings and written appellate work.
Colleagues and clients who have worked with him over the years describe a lawyer who moved from volunteer and instructional roles into sustained private practice. He has kept professional ties to bar institutions and industry networks while operating his own practice. He currently practices at the Law Offices of Gary S. Weiss, PC, handling matters in state and federal courts.
