About David B.

David B. Sosin built a legal foundation in classroom and courtroom over decades. He earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Illinois–Chicago in 1968 and completed his Juris Doctor at Northwestern University in 1972. Those academic years preceded a long career spanning state and federal courts.

Early in his career he moved into practice across Illinois. Over time he obtained admissions that broadened his reach: he is authorized to practice in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, and he holds admission to the Seventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Those credentials have allowed him to handle matters that require appearances at both trial and appellate levels.

Sosin has been active inside bar organizations as well as at the firm table. He serves on the Board of Governors of the Illinois State Bar and has held the office of Treasurer of the same organization in the past. He is a director at the ISBA Mutual Insurance Company and maintains membership in the DuPage County Bar Association. He also participates as a state-wide delegate for the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Chicago Area and has held leadership roles in the Southwest Bar Association.

His professional life includes a long association with the firm Sosin & Arnold & Shoenbeck Ltd., where he has practiced alongside colleagues on a range of civil matters. The firm listing accompanies his name on filings and court dockets. Over the years he has handled litigation that required coordination across jurisdictions and courts, sometimes bringing cases before appellate panels.

Colleagues describe him as steady in court and methodical in preparation. He has combined courtroom experience with involvement in bar governance, which has kept him connected to changes in practice rules and professional standards. That mix of courtroom work and organizational service has featured throughout his career.

As of 2026 he remains active in practice and continues to appear in state and federal matters, including cases in the Seventh Circuit and matters that require Supreme Court admission. His current practice concentrates on litigation across state and federal courts and on matters that involve appellate advocacy.
