About Gary

Gary Eiben began his legal education at Point Park University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1971. He continued his studies at Duquesne University School of Law and received his J.D. in 1977. Those academic milestones set the stage for a long career in Pennsylvania’s courts.

He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before federal tribunals that serve the region. His admissions include the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. That coverage has allowed him to handle matters that start in state trial courts and proceed through federal trial and appellate levels.

Eiben serves as a partner at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton. In that role he works alongside other firm lawyers on litigation and related matters. He has decades of experience handling cases in both trial courts and on appeal, and he regularly appears in courtrooms across western Pennsylvania and in regional federal venues.

Outside the courtroom he maintains memberships in a range of professional organizations. He is a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar, the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Erie County Bar Association. Nationally, he belongs to the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the American Health Lawyers Association. Those memberships have given him ongoing access to continuing legal education and peer networks that inform his work.

Colleagues describe Eiben as deliberate in his preparation and straightforward in court. He favors clear presentation over flourishes. That approach is evident whether he is arguing procedural matters in a federal court or briefing an appeal in the Third Circuit.

Over the years he has balanced trial work with appellate practice. He spends time preparing briefs, taking depositions and representing clients at hearings. He also collaborates with other attorneys at his firm on strategy and case management.

As of 2026 he practices as a partner at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton and represents clients in matters before state and federal courts.
