About Gagan W.
Gagan W. Khan earned his J.D. from Southwestern Law School and built a practice that spans two state jurisdictions. He moved from law school into courtroom work and public appointments, carving a career that blends private practice and court service.
He is admitted to practice in both California and Texas. That dual admission shapes the kinds of matters he takes and the clients he serves. It also explains why much of his public work has been in Texas courts while his credentials trace back to a California law degree.
In 2018 he served as an Appointed Special Commissioner to Judge George Barnstone of Harris County Court at Law No. 1. The following year he received two additional special commissioner appointments: first to Judge LaShawn Williams of Harris County Court at Law No. 3 and then to Judge Leslie Briones of Harris County Court at Law No. 4. Those appointments put him before county judges in Harris County and marked a period of recurring court involvement.
Beyond those appointments, his career has evolved in the direction of private practice. He works out of G.K. Law PLLC, where he handles litigation and court-related matters. The firm name appears on filings and client correspondence, and it is the center of his daily practice.
Colleagues describe him as practical in court and exacting in preparation. He handles procedural work, client counseling, and contested matters that require appearances in state court. He is comfortable in the courtroom and in the preparation that precedes it.
Khan’s background — a Southwestern Law School J.D., admissions in California and Texas, and multiple special commissioner roles in Harris County — gives him a mix of perspectives. He moves between client representation and assignments from the bench. That combination informs how he approaches cases and how he organizes work at his firm.
As of 2026 he continues to practice at G.K. Law PLLC. He represents clients in state court matters and accepts court-appointed assignments in both Texas and California.
