About G. Trippe
G. Trippe Hawthorne studied philosophy at Baylor University and finished his undergraduate degree in 1992. He went on to earn his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1995. The sequence of degrees set a clear path toward trial and appellate work in both state and federal systems.
Fresh out of law school, he clerked for Judge John V. Parker on the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. The clerkship lasted through 1995 and gave him early exposure to federal procedure and courtroom practice. That experience shaped the next steps in his career and informed his approach to briefing and oral argument.
In 1996 he joined Gold Weems Bruser Sues & Rundell, where he served as an associate and later as a partner. He spent several years there developing litigation experience across a range of matters. In 2004 he moved to Kean Miller LLP and became a partner. His time at both firms spans state and federal cases, and it includes trial preparation, motion practice and appeals.
He holds admissions in Louisiana and Texas, and he is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Court of Claims. He is also admitted in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana. Those credentials allow him to handle matters that cross state lines and proceed through multiple federal forums.
Hawthorne maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. He also belongs to the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and the Americans Inns of Court. He participates in those groups as a way to stay current on developments in procedure and substantive law.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and deliberate at the lectern. He has combined a background in philosophy and federal clerkship experience into a practice that relies on close analysis of fact patterns and statutory texts. He has appeared in state and federal courts at various stages of litigation.
He is a partner at Kean Miller LLP. His practice involves handling matters in both state and federal courts, including appellate work and trial preparation.
