About Frederic
Frederic Ury has built a long career in Connecticut’s legal community. He combines courtroom experience with deep institutional involvement. His work spans trial practice, committee service, and efforts to shape professional rules.
He earned a J.D. from Suffolk University and a B.S. from Babson College. He holds certification as a Civil Trial Lawyer from the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Those credentials sit alongside decades of bar activity that began in the late 1970s and have continued to the present.
Ury has been active in the Connecticut Bar Association since 1977 and has taken on leadership roles over the years. He served as President of the Connecticut Bar Association from 2004 to 2005, after serving as President-Elect the year before. He chaired the Litigation Section in the mid-1990s and has served on its Executive Committee since 1987. His work within the Litigation Section has included membership on the Rules Committee and the Bench/Bar Committee.
His involvement extends beyond Connecticut. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Litigation Section and has participated in the ABA’s Commission on Ethics 20/20 since 2009. He belongs to the American Board of Trial Advocates and has been active in its Connecticut chapter since 2009. Since 2011 he has held the title of President-Elect of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, a position he continues to list as current. Those roles reflect a long-term engagement with issues that affect practice standards and litigation procedure.
In practice, Ury has maintained an active civil trial docket. He is experienced in commercial and banking litigation and in court trials that require sustained preparation and advocacy. He has combined trial work with committee service, advising on procedural and ethical issues that affect litigators and the wider bar. He continues to practice in Connecticut, handling civil litigation matters including commercial and banking disputes and trial work.
