About Frank J. Federico
Frank J. Federico Jr. studied political science at Northeastern University and earned his Bachelor of Science in 1983. He went on to attend New England Law | Boston, receiving his J.D. in 1987. Those academic years set the foundation for a career centered on courtroom practice and appellate work.
He entered the legal profession after law school and built a practice that spans both state and federal systems. Over time he joined Sheff Law, where he serves as a partner. His role at the firm combines case management, courtroom preparation and appellate filings.
Federico is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in several federal venues. He holds admission to the First Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions allow him to represent clients in trial courts, in federal district proceedings and on appeal when matters require review beyond the district level.
He maintains active memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American Association for Justice and the Massachusetts State Bar. Participation in these groups keeps him engaged with developments in trial practice, procedural changes and continuing legal education.
Colleagues and opposing counsel most often encounter him in litigation settings. His practice involves preparing pleadings, conducting discovery and presenting cases in courtrooms and appellate panels. He handles matters that require contested hearings and that sometimes proceed to trial, relying on procedural and appellate avenues where necessary.
He balances courtroom work with the administrative responsibilities that come with partnership. That includes mentoring more junior lawyers at the firm, overseeing case strategy and handling client communications. He brings to those tasks the practical experience of years practicing across the modes of litigation his admissions permit.
He now serves as a partner at Sheff Law and represents clients in state and federal courts including the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the First Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
