About Francisco

Francisco Barreto began his academic path in engineering. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida State University in 2016. Three years later he completed a J.D. at Nova Southeastern University, graduating in 2019.

At Nova Southeastern, Barreto joined the Trial Association. The group immersed him in practical advocacy and case preparation. Those activities helped bridge the gap between classroom doctrine and courtroom procedure.

After law school he entered private practice and now serves as an associate at Assouline & Berlowe, P.A. In that role he handles research, drafts pleadings and briefs, and assists in pretrial preparation. He works on matters that require attention to procedural detail and timely court filings. Colleagues describe him as methodical and attentive to the mechanics of litigation.

Barreto is a member of the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the State of Florida. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, which allows him to file and argue cases in federal court when the need arises. He remains active in the Nova Southeastern Trial Association, maintaining ties to the academic community and its training programs.

He approaches cases in a step-by-step manner. Early case assessment and evidence review are recurring priorities. He prepares motions and supports trial teams, and he handles client communications about procedural developments and deadlines. His engineering background informs his approach to technical detail and analytic tasks.

Outside the office he keeps connections to the law school network, attending events and programs that focus on trial advocacy. That ongoing engagement helps him stay current on litigation practices and courtroom procedure. It also creates a pipeline for new ideas and practical training opportunities.

Barreto practices law in Florida and represents clients in federal matters in the Southern District of Florida. He is based at Assouline & Berlowe, P.A., where he continues to develop his litigation practice in state and federal courts.
