About F. Richard

F. Richard Ricketts trained in finance before he trained in law. He earned a B.A. in Finance from Seattle University in 1992 and stayed in Seattle to obtain his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 1995. A later return to graduate study produced an M.A. in Accounting and Financial Management from Keller Graduate School of Management in 2007. That combination of legal and financial education has threaded through his career ever since.

He moved into corporate work in the late 1990s and served as Director of Corporate Development at Wajax Limited in 1997. The role gave him experience on the corporate side of transactions and operational finance. In 2003 he opened a solo practice, forming the Law Offices of F. Richard Ricketts, PLLC. He is admitted to practice in Washington and in the Ninth Circuit, and he has been a member of the Washington State Bar Association since 2003.

Ricketts maintains formal ties to accounting and valuation circles. Since 2007 he has participated in the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants committee on Business Valuation and Litigation Services. He is also a member of the Institute of Management Accountants’ Small Business Committee, a role he has held since 2006. Those memberships reflect a continuing engagement with the technical side of financial disputes and the standards that accountants and financial experts apply.

He holds a mediation certification from the Pierce County Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution. The certification complements his litigation work and provides an avenue for resolving disputes outside the courtroom. His background in finance and accounting informs how he approaches complex financial evidence, valuation issues and expert testimony. He has experience preparing and reviewing valuation analyses, and he consults on the financial aspects of business disputes and litigation support.

Today he practices from his own firm in Washington. His work brings together legal advocacy, financial analysis and alternative dispute resolution. He handles matters that involve business valuation, litigation support and mediation.
