About Evan S.
Evan S. Sloan earned a foundation in languages and politics before turning to the law. He completed a Bachelor of Science in German and Political Science: International and Comparative Politics at Western Michigan University in 2013. He then pursued legal studies at the University of Kentucky College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2017.
Those academic choices shaped a straightforward path into Illinois practice. After law school, Sloan established his career in that state and became active in several professional organizations. He has held membership in the Illinois Bar Association since 2017. He joined the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association the same year, and in 2019 he became a member of the Workers Compensation Lawyers Association.
Sloan’s professional memberships reflect the company he keeps and the matters he frequently encounters. Trial lawyers and workers’ compensation practitioners often cross paths in contested hearings, depositions, and appeals. Sloan’s participation in those groups gives him regular exposure to evolving case law and procedural developments, and it places him where litigators and claims professionals exchange practical strategies.
Colleagues describe him as prepared at hearings and methodical in case development. He has worked on cases that require careful factual investigation and attention to medical and employment records. He applies courtroom procedure and statutory deadlines in day-to-day work. His approach favors clear organization and steady advocacy rather than theatrical trial tactics.
Sloan practices at Marker & Crannell. There he handles matters that arise out of workplace injury claims and related civil litigation. His work combines counseling injured workers, handling administrative proceedings, and pursuing contested claims through trial or settlement when appropriate. He also appears regularly before administrative tribunals that adjudicate workers’ compensation disputes.
Outside of hearings and brief writing, Sloan maintains ties to professional groups that offer continuing legal education and peer discussion. He uses those forums to stay current on changes in workers’ compensation rules and trial procedure. He lives and works in Illinois, where he continues to represent clients in workplace injury and civil trial matters.
He is currently practicing at Marker & Crannell, where his work focuses on workers’ compensation and civil trial matters.
