About Ethan

Ethan Epley began his academic path at Iowa State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1998. He continued his studies at Drake University College of Law and received his J.D. in 2007. The combination of an agricultural undergraduate degree and a law degree shaped the early contours of his professional interests.

After law school, Epley entered legal practice as an associate at Dillon Law Office in 2009. Two years later he joined Stumme Law Office as a lawyer. Those early positions exposed him to a mix of rural legal issues and general practice work common to smaller communities. He has maintained professional ties in the region through local bar associations and civic boards.

Epley holds memberships in a number of professional organizations. He has been a member of the Iowa Bar Association since 2009 and of the Butler County Bar Association since the same year. He joined the American Agricultural Law Association in 2007. Since 2009 he has also served on the board of Waverly Shell Rock United Way, a role that reflects ongoing community involvement beyond his courtroom and office responsibilities.

His background in agriculture informs the kinds of matters he regularly encounters. Clients have turned to him for issues that touch on farm operations, land use, and business arrangements tied to rural enterprises. He has also handled related matters such as estate planning for farming families and basic transactional work for small businesses. His work often requires translating agricultural concerns into clear legal strategies and paperwork.

Epley’s work history spans private practice settings where attorneys frequently handle a broad roster of client needs. In those roles he handled client counseling, document drafting, and representation in a range of civil matters. He has worked across different offices and maintained an active local presence through his bar association participation and nonprofit board work.

Today he continues to practice in settings that serve rural and small-town clients. He maintains an office presence that includes a Denver office and other local practice locations. His current practice focuses on legal matters tied to agriculture, estate planning for farming households, and related business issues.
