About Erin Nicole
Erin Nicole Abrams took a direct path into law after studying political science at San Diego State University. She completed her undergraduate degree there before returning to Louisiana for legal training at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Her academic background gave her a mix of West Coast undergraduate experience and Southern law school training.
After earning her J.D., Abrams became licensed to practice in Louisiana and is admitted to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She is active in local and state bar organizations. Those roles reflect an early interest in courtroom work and community engagement among peers.
Abrams has developed a presence in southwest Louisiana’s legal community. She serves as treasurer for the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association Family Law Section and holds a board position in the association’s Young Lawyers Division. She also maintains membership in the Louisiana State Bar Association. Her bar and association work has put her in regular contact with judges, family law practitioners, and attorneys starting their careers.
Her involvement in the Family Law Section signals where much of her practice energy is spent. Colleagues describe her as steady in court and practical at the negotiating table. She represents clients in family law proceedings and handles the routine and the complex matters that arise in divorce, child custody, and support cases. Her caseload includes contested hearings as well as settlement discussions; she prepares filings and argues motions when necessary.
At The Johnson Firm, Abrams works alongside a team that handles civil and family matters for clients across the region. She draws on courtroom experience and association work to manage cases and to mentor newer attorneys through the Young Lawyers Division. She has not sought elected bar leadership beyond her current organizational roles, preferring to maintain an active docket while contributing to practice-area committees.
Outside the courtroom she has taken part in continuing legal education programs offered through state and local bar groups. Those programs keep her current on changes in family law procedures and appellate developments in the Fifth Circuit. She balances courtroom obligations with service in professional organizations and occasional speaking or panel participation.
As of 2026, Erin Nicole Abrams practices family law at The Johnson Firm, handling divorce, custody, support, and related matters for clients in Louisiana and in proceedings before the Fifth Circuit where appropriate.
