About Erica
Erica Bansmer earned a B.A. in economics from the University of California, Davis in 1999 and a J.D. from the University of the Pacific in 2005. She combined a study of policy and numbers early on, and then turned to law as a practical way to address disputes that affect families and communities.
Her legal career began in public service. In 2002 she worked as a law clerk in the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office. That early courtroom exposure shaped her approach to litigation and client counseling. She later joined the Family Law Service Center as a lawyer in 2008, handling matters that required both procedural know-how and sensitivity to personal issues.
A year later she opened her own practice. In 2009 she founded the Law Office of Erica M. Bansmer, which operates under the name Bansmer Law. Running a small firm brought new responsibilities. She managed case strategy and client relations, and oversaw the day-to-day operations of the office.
Bansmer’s professional life has also included participation in the local bar. She is a member of the San Joaquin County Bar Association and has served on its executive committee. That role kept her connected to court administrators, fellow lawyers, and developments in local practice.
Over time her practice has remained steady in family law. She draws on courtroom experience and years of private-practice work to advise clients and represent them in family-related proceedings. Colleagues describe her as precise in filings and attentive at hearings. She prefers clear explanations and practical options when meeting with clients.
Bansmer maintains multiple office locations under the Bansmer Law name. She balances client work with running the firm, assigning and delegating tasks when matters require a team approach. The offices serve a mix of people seeking counsel in domestic matters and related legal issues.
She continues to practice in California, accepting cases through Bansmer Law. Her current practice handles family law matters.
