About Eric Mayeda
Eric Mayeda Renslo built his legal foundation at the University of California, Davis, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2014. He continued to UCLA School of Law, completing his J.D. in 2017. During law school he took on editorial work and student organization roles that shaped his early approach to legal writing and research.
While at UCLA, Renslo served as Senior Managing Editor of the Pacific Basin Law Journal and took part in the Asian Pacific Islander Law Student Association. He also contributed as an Associate Editor for the International Criminal Court Forum. Those positions coincided with semester and summer placements that exposed him to courtroom procedure and case preparation.
In 2016 Renslo gained practical courtroom experience as a certified law clerk in both Los Angeles County and Santa Barbara County. The following year he worked in a prosecutorial capacity at the Los Angeles City office. That time on the prosecution side preceded his move into defense practice and gave him direct experience in how prosecutions are built.
Since 2018 Renslo has worked as a criminal defense trial lawyer at Renslo Law. He represents clients in California state courts and handles matters that range from early-stage criminal proceedings to trial. His prior prosecutorial experience informs his approach to defense work, especially in preparing for hearings and trial strategy. He maintains active memberships in professional organizations that connect him with practitioners across the state and country.
Renslo belongs to the Criminal Courts Bar Association and California Lawyers for Criminal Justice. He is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. Those affiliations supplement day-to-day practice by offering continuing legal education and forums for practice-specific discussion.
His career path moved from law review and student groups into clerkships and brief prosecutorial work, then into private practice. The trajectory gave him exposure to several aspects of criminal law early on. Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who has worked on both sides of the aisle and who centers courtroom preparation in his practice.
Licensed by the State Bar of California, he maintains a practice through Renslo Law. He currently practices criminal defense in California.
