About Eric

Eric Hults built his professional path from the classrooms of Ann Arbor to a Chicago-area law practice. He completed a B.A. at the University of Michigan, graduating in 2006 after beginning his undergraduate studies in 2002. He then entered Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2008 and earned his J.D. in 2011.

Those academic years left a clear imprint. At Michigan he developed interests that steered him toward law. Law school sharpened his courtroom instincts and introduced him to the pace of litigation. He finished his legal education prepared to step into practice in Illinois.

After law school, Hults moved into the Illinois legal community. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and established himself at Abels & Annes, P.C. There he joined a team that handles litigation and client representation across a range of matters. Colleagues describe him as deliberate in court and precise in written work. He tends to favor careful preparation and a steady strategy in hearings and filings.

Hults’s file work shows attention to procedural detail. He often handles discovery disputes, drafting motions, and preparing witnesses, tasks that require patience and a firm command of deadlines. He has experience arguing procedural and evidentiary matters in court and in briefing complex motions. That experience has made him a familiar presence in Illinois courtrooms.

Outside the courtroom, Hults has been involved in case planning and client counseling. He spends time explaining options to clients and mapping out litigation timelines. The job demands a brisk shift from drafting dense legal documents to clear, plain-language explanations for clients. He strikes a balance between the two.

Colleagues note that Hults values mentorship and teamwork. He works closely with senior attorneys and newer associates. The practice environment at Abels & Annes has allowed him to take on responsibility while continuing to refine courtroom skills. He contributes to strategy sessions and participates in trial preparation from the early stages of a matter.

As of 2026, Hults continues his legal work at Abels & Annes, P.C. His practice is concentrated on serving clients in Illinois and handling the litigation tasks that arise in state courts.
