About Eric
Eric Grinnell built his foundation at the College of Wooster, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts, and continued his legal studies at Cleveland State University, earning his J.D. in 2012. He took the classroom lessons into courtrooms and offices, learning the routine work of litigation and case preparation early in his career.
He began practicing soon after law school. In 2013 he joined Smith Marshall, LLP as an associate lawyer. Two years later he moved on to roles at both Carr Law Office, LLC and Janik LLP, listed as associate lawyer positions in 2015. Those early years exposed him to a range of civil matters and the day-to-day responsibilities of trial preparation, discovery and client counseling.
Grinnell maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the Ohio Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. He also holds membership in the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Lawyers and in Claims Litigation Management. Those memberships reflect the kinds of peers and practices he engages with, and they keep him connected to developments in civil and claims litigation across the state.
Colleagues and former supervisors describe him as steady in litigation settings. He has handled discovery and motion practice and worked on cases that required coordination with insurers and claims professionals. His work at multiple firms gave him exposure to both plaintiff and defense perspectives, and it required adapting to different case-management systems and billing practices.
Clients and court filings show a lawyer comfortable in state courts across Ohio. He appears in filings and hearings, manages depositions and prepares expert disclosures. He relies on thorough preparation and clear communication when advancing client positions before judges and opposing counsel.
Grinnell keeps his practice within Ohio and continues to participate in bar and claims-focused organizations. He currently practices in Ohio, concentrating on civil litigation and claims-related matters.
