About Eric

Eric Eickhoff practiced law after earning a business degree and then a law degree. He studied business at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and received his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School. Those schools shaped his approach to casework and courtroom strategy. They also provided the foundation for a career that has centered on criminal defense in Wisconsin.

He is licensed in Wisconsin and also admitted to practice in the Federal Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Early in his career he handled a range of criminal matters at trial and on appeal. Over time his caseload narrowed as he dealt more frequently with state and federal criminal charges. He has guided clients through arraignment, pretrial motions, plea negotiations and jury trials.

In 2017 he became managing partner of Hogan Eickhoff, SC. The role broadened his responsibilities beyond casework. He took on administrative duties, supervised other lawyers and helped shape firm policies. Managing partner duties included client intake procedures, case assignment and coordinating litigation strategy across the firm.

Eickhoff maintains memberships in several professional organizations tied to criminal defense. He is active in the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and belongs to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Those affiliations keep him connected to developments in criminal law and to peers who handle similar matters.

His courtroom practice covers state and federal criminal prosecutions in Wisconsin. He represents individuals at various stages of criminal proceedings and addresses issues that arise in both trial and appellate settings. He has experience handling procedural and substantive questions that commonly surface in criminal cases. He balances case preparation in the office with appearances in court, striving to ensure factual and legal issues are presented clearly for judges and juries.

Outside the courtroom he is involved in firm management and mentoring younger attorneys. He oversees case strategy discussions and assists in preparing briefs and motions. His approach to casework emphasizes careful preparation and clear presentation of arguments.

His current practice focuses on criminal defense work in Wisconsin and in the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
