About Emmett B.
Emmett B. Irwin earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law before entering practice in Maryland. His legal education placed him in the state's professional community early, and he has maintained a continuous presence in Maryland's courts since becoming licensed by the Court of Appeals.
Irwin founded The Law Office of Emmett B. Irwin in 2016. He started the firm to provide representation in matters that intersect elder law and disability rights. The firm’s creation marked a shift from working under other firms to operating an independent practice focused on those client needs.
Over the past decade Irwin has built a practice that draws on several professional affiliations. Since 2016 he has served as Vice Chair of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section of the Maryland State Bar. He has been Co-Chair of the Disability Benefits Section of the Maryland Association for Justice since 2019. In 2020 he joined the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and remains a member. He also serves on the Peer Review Committee for the Lawyer Grievance Commission of Maryland.
