About Emily M.

Emily M. Ellison studied law at the University of Denver and earned her J.D. before beginning practice in Colorado. The law school years shaped her interest in family law and courtroom work. She moved into practice soon after graduating and set up her own practice in the Denver area.

She founded Ellison Law in 2018 and has worked there since, identifying and responding to the everyday legal problems families face. Her early years in practice involved both negotiation and courtroom appearances. Those years helped her build a caseload that includes contested divorces, custody disputes, child support matters, property division, and post‑decree enforcement.

Ellison is licensed to practice in Colorado. She joined the Colorado Bar Association in 2018 and remains a member. At the local level she has taken on leadership responsibilities. She served as President‑Elect of the Boulder County Bar Association for the 2022–2023 term and continues to participate in the association’s activities.

Colleagues describe her as methodical and straightforward. She prepares cases to go to trial but also pursues negotiated settlements when they serve clients’ interests. In family law matters she combines document work, financial analysis, and client counseling in ways meant to clarify options and next steps for people in stressful situations.

Her practice at Ellison Law handles both urgent calendar matters and longer, complex files. She works with financial experts and mental health professionals when cases require valuations, parenting plans, or custody evaluations. Outreach and local bar involvement are part of how she keeps current on changes in family law and procedure.

Outside the office she has remained active in bar activities and local legal education programs. That involvement has included mentoring newer attorneys and participating in seminars that address both trial practice and changes in family law statutes and case law. She keeps a steady pace between court work, mediation, and client counseling.

She currently practices at Ellison Law, handling divorce and family law matters.
