About Ellyn
Ellyn Clevenger began her legal path at the Mississippi University for Women, where she completed a B.A. in pre-law. She continued her studies at Tulane University School of Law, earning her J.D. in 2007. Her education combined coursework in legal theory with practical training common to New Orleans law programs.
After law school she became licensed to practice in both Louisiana and Texas. That dual licensure has shaped the trajectory of her work. It requires an understanding of two different state systems and the ways those systems affect litigation strategy, transactional drafting and client counseling.
Those jurisdictional differences are important to her approach. Louisiana’s civil law traditions sit alongside Texas’s common-law framework. She spends time advising clients about how outcomes can vary when a matter crosses state lines. She also explains procedural steps that differ between the two states, from pleading requirements to appeals timing. The result is practical guidance that helps clients set realistic expectations.
Colleagues describe her as methodical and clear in her written work. She is attentive to statutory text and court decisions in both states and often reviews parallel authorities to anticipate arguments. Her training at Tulane informed the analytical habits she applies when preparing briefs, drafting contracts or evaluating risk.
Her practice serves individuals and organizations that need counsel in Louisiana and Texas. She works on matters that require coordination across jurisdictions and on issues that turn on state-specific doctrine. Much of that work involves sorting through differences in procedure and substantive law so clients can make informed choices about forum and strategy.
Outside of casework she has maintained contact with alumni and professional networks from her law school years. Those ties can be a practical resource for research and collegial advice when unusual questions arise. She also stays current on state court developments and statutory changes that affect clients in both states.
As of 2026 she continues to represent clients licensed in Louisiana and Texas and to advise on matters that implicate both state systems. Her current practice focuses on matters governed by Louisiana and Texas law.
