About Elliot

Elliot Briggs practices criminal defense in Arizona. He took a straightforward route into law. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from Southern Virginia University and completed his J.D. at North Carolina Central University School of Law. Those studies set the groundwork for courtroom work and an interest in the procedural side of criminal cases.

After law school he moved into criminal defense work. In 2019 he worked as a lawyer at Matthew Lopez Law, where he handled client intake, drafted motions, and supported trial preparation. That early experience exposed him to the day-to-day demands of representing people accused of crimes and sharpened his litigation skills. In 2021 he joined VS Criminal Defense Lawyers as a lawyer. There he carried a caseload of serious criminal matters and continued to represent clients through arraignments, plea negotiations, and trials.

Briggs is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and is licensed to practice in that jurisdiction. He has built his practice around criminal defense, often appearing in state courts across Arizona. His work has included cases labeled under different practice brands, including AZ Sex Crimes Lawyer, AZ Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Arizona Felony Defense Lawyer. Those affiliations reflect the types of matters he routinely handles rather than separate firms.

In the office he is known for practical courtroom preparation. He briefs and argues motions, develops lines of questioning for hearings, and plans trial strategy. He represents clients at critical early stages where evidence and procedure often determine how a case proceeds. He also participates in plea discussions and advises clients on the risks and benefits of different dispositions.

Outside the courtroom, Briggs focuses on case investigation and coordination with experts when a matter requires forensic, psychological, or technical analysis. He relies on a network of investigators and consultants to assemble factual and technical support for defense theories. That investigative approach is a steady component of how he prepares for hearings and trials.

Today he practices criminal defense through VS Criminal Defense Lawyers and is listed under several Arizona criminal defense brands. He represents clients accused of sex offenses and other felony-level crimes and continues to handle trial and pretrial work in Arizona courts.
