About Elizabeth Grumet
Elizabeth Grumet Gonzalez began her professional journey in community and service roles before turning to law. She earned a B.A. in American and Latino Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She later attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law and received her J.D. in 2009.
Her early work bridged advocacy and legal training. In 2001 she served as a sports manager for Special Olympics Northern California. She moved into law clerk positions after starting law school, including roles supporting railroad union labor rights in 2007. In 2009 she held clerk positions at Disability Rights California and at the Employee Rights Center, experiences that exposed her to disability and employment issues from both policy and client perspectives.
After law school she took on roles that deepened courtroom and client-side experience. In 2010 she worked at San Diego Fire Lawyers. She joined the Law Offices of Gerald Singleton in 2012. In 2014 she returned to Disability Rights California as a staff lawyer while also taking on contract lawyer assignments. That period combined direct representation with systemic advocacy and gave her repeated exposure to administrative and litigation pathways available to clients with disabilities and employment disputes.
In 2016 she was an associate at the Law Offices of Laura J. Farris. The following year she opened The Grumet Gonzalez Law Office. Since 2017 she has operated that practice, handling matters brought by individuals and families. The office serves clients in California and reflects the mix of public-interest and private-practice experience she accumulated earlier in her career.
Her file of roles suggests particular experience in disability-related claims, employee rights matters and cases arising from workplace or injury events. She has worked in settings that required case management, administrative advocacy and litigation preparation. Colleagues and clients have encountered her in both nonprofit legal contexts and in small-firm practice environments.
She continues to practice law through The Grumet Gonzalez Law Office. Her current work centers on representing individuals in disability and employment-related matters and other civil claims in California.
