About Elizabeth Candido
Elizabeth Candido Petite builds her practice at the intersection of tax law and estate planning. She arrived at that intersection after earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and then completing a J.D. at New York Law School in 2010. She stayed on at New York Law School to earn an LL.M. in Taxation in 2011. Those credentials underpin much of her work and shape how she approaches matters that touch both trust and tax rules.
Her early career began in private practice in New Jersey. In 2011 she joined Mazur Carp & Rubin P.C., a firm that later merged into Schiff Hardin LLP in July 2013. She continued at Schiff Hardin through that transition, working on traditional trusts and estates matters while sharpening her knowledge of tax-related issues that affect estates and fiduciaries. In 2016 she moved to Norris McLaughlin & Marcus where she broadened her experience in estate administration and estate planning for individual clients and families. Two years later she joined Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper, P.C., where she has served as a trusts and estates lawyer since 2018.
Petite’s practice combines drafting and advisory work with courtroom and administrative tasks when circumstances require. She prepares wills and trusts, assists with probate and estate administration, and handles trust modifications and contested fiduciary matters. Her LL.M. in Taxation informs how she approaches estate and gift tax planning, prepares fiduciary income tax returns, and advises executors and trustees about tax compliance. She often works with clients who need coordinated estate plans that account for both family goals and tax consequences.
She is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, and before the United States Tax Court. Her professional memberships include the New York State Bar Association and the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association. Those affiliations give her access to resources and discussions that influence practice trends and regulatory developments affecting estates and taxation.
Colleagues describe Petite as methodical in document drafting and practical in problem solving. Her background—an Ivy League undergraduate degree, a J.D., and an LL.M. in Taxation—gives her a technical base that she applies to everyday client problems. She currently practices trusts and estates law at Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper, P.C., where she handles estate planning, administration, and tax-related matters for individual and fiduciary clients.
