About Edward R.
Edward R. Averbuch earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in 2004 and continued his legal education at New York Law School, where he received his J.D. in 2008. He moved into practice soon after graduation and began building courtroom experience in state and federal matters.
His early post-law school years were spent in smaller firms and solo practices that exposed him to a range of civil litigation tasks. In 2009 he worked at the office of Russell C. Weigel, III, P.A., and in 2012 he joined Bruno, Gerbino & Soriano, LLP. Those positions gave him steady exposure to case preparation, pleadings and client counseling in contested matters.
In 2014 Averbuch joined the Law Office of Michael E. Pressman, and the next year he was a lawyer at Greenberg Law P.C. In 2016 he began at Leav & Steinberg, LLP, where he has continued his practice. Over the years his work has taken him into both state and federal courtrooms.
Averbuch is admitted to practice in New York and Florida, and he holds admissions to multiple federal trial courts. His federal admissions include the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He maintains memberships in professional organizations relevant to trial practice, including the New York State Bar Association, The Florida Bar, the American Association for Justice, and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who has steadily expanded his litigation portfolio by taking on successive roles across firms of different sizes. He has handled case development tasks that are common in civil litigation—drafting motions, participating in discovery, and preparing matters for trial. His career path shows a pattern of moving from smaller, focused practices into larger collaborative settings.
Averbuch’s practice spans state and federal courts in both New York and Florida, where he files and defends civil matters and appears in court as required. He continues to practice at Leav & Steinberg, LLP. His current practice involves state and federal litigation in New York and Florida.
