About Edward
Edward Allen graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in American Studies in 1984 and earned his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1987. He moved directly into private practice after law school and has spent his career at the same firm, joining Allen, Allen, Allen, & Allen, P.C. as a partner in 1987. He is based in the firm’s Fredericksburg office and has maintained an active litigation practice for decades.
Over the years Allen has been admitted to several federal courts in addition to the Commonwealth of Virginia. Those credentials include the U.S. Court of Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. His courtroom work has been reinforced by long involvement in trial-focused organizations and educational programs.
Allen’s professional affiliations run deep. He holds current memberships in the American Association for Justice, the Virginia Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association, the Southern Trial Lawyers Association, Public Justice, and the 15th Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He has served on the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association’s Board of Governors since 2000 and on its Nominating Committee since 2013. He previously served as President of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and is listed as faculty with the Virginia College of Trial Advocacy. At the Southern Trial Lawyers Association he serves on the Board of Governors.
Those roles reflect his steady involvement in the trial bar community and in trial skills education. Colleagues describe his work as centered on litigation and trial preparation. He has balanced courtroom practice with service in bar activities, including committee work and governance roles that shape how trial lawyers interact with courts and the public.
Within his firm, Allen has handled a range of civil litigation matters over a long tenure as partner. He practices in state and federal courts and has experience handling appeals in circuit and appellate courts listed on his admissions. He remains active in professional groups that emphasize trial advocacy and civil justice.
After more than three decades in practice, Allen continues to work from the Fredericksburg office of Allen, Allen, Allen, & Allen, P.C., where his practice focuses on civil litigation and trial work in state and federal courts.
