About Edward Alan
Edward Alan Monsky built a foundation in the liberal arts and the humanities before turning to the law. He earned a B.A. from Haverford College and later completed an M.A. at the University of Pennsylvania. He finished his legal training at Washington University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1982.
After law school, Monsky began practicing in the early 1980s and has maintained a long presence in Pennsylvania’s legal community. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He holds current membership in professional associations and has used those memberships to remain engaged with the broader bar.
His career spans both trial and appellate environments. Admission to the Third Circuit and the Supreme Court allows him to handle matters that extend beyond state court. Over the years he has filed documents and pleadings in a range of forums and worked through procedural and substantive issues that accompany higher court practice. He has navigated the requirements of federal appellate procedure and the distinct demands of seeking review at the national level.
Monsky’s practice is widely distributed across Pennsylvania. He maintains offices in Scranton, Philadelphia, Allentown, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, Stroudsburg, Carbondale and Pittsburgh. That geographic spread reflects a practice designed to serve clients in multiple regions of the state rather than being limited to a single city. It also positions him to handle matters that arise in both urban and smaller community settings.
Colleagues describe him as steady and experienced in managing litigation that can move between trial courts and appellate panels. He has worked with attorneys and clients to assemble records, prepare appellate briefs and present arguments in higher courts when a case requires that level of review. His academic background in both liberal arts and advanced study complements a procedural and analytical approach to casework.
He remains active in practice and continues to represent clients out of his Pennsylvania offices. His current practice centers on state and federal litigation, including cases that may proceed to appellate review.
