About Edgar
Edgar Velazquez studied foreign affairs at the University of Virginia and received his B.A. in 1997. He went on to earn a J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2000. The combination of a liberal arts undergraduate degree and a law degree shaped an early interest in legal work that crosses state and federal lines.
He launched his legal career shortly after law school. In 2000 he worked at Yacub & Cianciarulo, LLC. The next year he was with CACI, Inc., followed by a position at AHC, Inc. in 2002. By 2004 he was practicing at Matt Hellman, PA. In 2005 he joined Cytryn & Velazquez, P.A., where he continued his practice. That sequence of roles gave him exposure to both private firm practice and work tied to contractual and corporate settings.
Velazquez is admitted to practice in Virginia and Florida. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the Southern District of Florida, and he is licensed to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Those admissions allow him to take on matters in state courts and to handle federal filings and appeals within the Fourth Circuit's jurisdiction.
Beyond courtroom admissions, he maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the Florida Bar Association and the Virginia State Bar. Locally, he belongs to the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association and the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida. He also serves on the board of the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Broward County. These affiliations connect him to both legal peers and the business community in South Florida.
Colleagues and clients who have worked with him describe a lawyer who moves methodically through case work. He has navigated procedural matters in federal district courts and has handled filings at the appellate level. Over time his practice has blended litigation tasks and counsel for clients operating across state lines.
Today Velazquez practices at the Law Offices Cytryn & Velazquez, P.A. He represents clients in state and federal matters in Florida and Virginia and appears in the federal district courts and the Fourth Circuit.
