About Edd K. Roberts
Edd K. Roberts III has practiced law in North Carolina for more than two decades. He is admitted in the state and to the Federal Circuit, and he has maintained active bar membership in North Carolina since 2000. After completing his legal training, Roberts moved into private practice and public service in quick succession.
His early career began in firm work. In 2000 he was an associate at Holt York McDarris High, where he handled trial preparation and courtroom work under senior partners. The following year he switched gears and joined the Wake County District Lawyer's Office as an assistant district lawyer. That role placed him on the prosecutorial side of criminal matters and gave him regular courtroom experience.
By 2003 Roberts had returned to private practice and established Roberts Law Office PA. He has practiced there as a lawyer since, building a caseload that has included serious criminal matters and state-level prosecutions. His time in both prosecution and defense has shaped how he approaches case evaluation and courtroom strategy.
Roberts’ professional affiliations reflect the areas he handles. He has been a member of the North Carolina State Bar since 2000. He joined the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2007 and has been associated with the Nation College DUI/DWI Defense since 2011. Those memberships connect him to continuing legal education and resources on criminal defense and impaired-driving defense.
Colleagues describe Roberts as steady in court. He prepares cases with attention to procedural detail and works through evidentiary and sentencing issues methodically. His background in the district attorney’s office gives him perspective on how cases are built on both sides of the aisle. He handles jury and bench trials, pretrial motions, plea negotiations and post-conviction matters when they arise.
Outside the courtroom he has maintained a local practice in North Carolina and handled appeals that required admission to the Federal Circuit. He has continued his bar involvement and professional memberships while adapting his practice to changes in criminal law and DUI statutes. He currently practices criminal defense and DUI/DWI law.
