His license is currently in active status. Mr. Schurmer is the owner and managing partner of Schurmer Reese Davies, a law firm located in Oxnard, California. He has been practicing law for over 36 years, serving clients throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

Mr. Schurmer earned his Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern Law School in 1991. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Southern California, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1986. During his time at USC, he developed a strong foundation in political science, which has informed his approach to legal practice.

Mr. Schurmer concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury law, civil litigation, and medical malpractice. He represents individuals and families in matters involving car accidents, medical malpractice, product liability, and premises liability. Throughout his career, Mr. Schurmer has handled cases in the Superior Courts of California for Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley & Jennett, LLP, a large insurance defense firm in Los Angeles, where he gained extensive experience defending personal injury and wrongful death actions.

Mr. Schurmer is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the American Association for Justice, the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, and the Ventura County Bar Association. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers and holds the rating of "Very High" from Martindale-Hubbell for Legal Ability and Ethical Standards. Mr. Schurmer is also a founder and current board member of Hands4Others, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing clean and sustainable drinking water to those in need worldwide.
