About E. Robert

E. Robert Fristoe built a legal life that stretches back to the middle of the 20th century. He entered law school after completing undergraduate work at the same university, and he stayed close to the Pacific Northwest as his career unfolded. He has combined court work and professional association activity for decades.

He earned a B.A. from the University of Washington in 1946 and completed his LL.B. at the University of Washington School of Law in 1949. Those diplomas marked the start of a long professional record in Washington state. He joined the Washington State Bar Association the year he graduated and has maintained that membership since 1949.

Early in his career Fristoe became active in bar affairs. He served as president of the Thurston County Bar Association in 1957–58, a post that placed him at the center of local legal organization and professional development. He joined the American Bar Association in 1951 and has retained that affiliation for many years. He is also a member of the South Puget Sound Estate Planning Council, an indication of ongoing contact with estate planning professionals in the region.

Fristoe is admitted to practice in Washington and before several federal tribunals, including the Ninth Circuit and the D.C. Circuit. His credentials also include admission to appear before the United States Supreme Court. Those admissions have allowed him to handle matters that move beyond trial courts and into appellate review.

For much of his career he has been associated with Owens Davies Fristoe Taylor & Schultz, PS. The firm affiliation reflects a long-term practice base. Over the decades he has balanced courtroom work, appellate filings and the everyday needs of clients who require counsel on transactional and planning matters.

Colleagues and records show steady participation in the legal community rather than headline-grabbing litigation. His work in bar associations and in estate planning circles suggests a practitioner who values professional exchange and practical problem solving. He continues to practice at Owens Davies Fristoe Taylor & Schultz, PS. He currently concentrates on appellate litigation and estate planning matters.
