About E. Alexander
E. Alexander Laird brings a straightforward approach to criminal defense work in Louisiana. He trained as a lawyer at Tulane University, earning his J.D. in 2019 after completing a B.A. in political science and government at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2015. The path from political science to law school shaped his interest in public service and courtroom work.
Early experience came in government offices. In 2016 he served as a law clerk in the Alabama Office of the Lawyer General. That role exposed him to the mechanics of public law practice and state-level legal operations. In 2019 he returned to Louisiana as a law clerk at the Baton Rouge Public Defender's Office. There he observed trial preparation and client advocacy up close. Those clerkships framed the practical side of his legal training.
After law school he moved into criminal defense. By 2020 he was practicing under the name E Alexander Laird: Affordable Criminal Defense. He took on cases at the state level and sought admission to the federal trial benches that hear criminal matters in Louisiana. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana and in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Louisiana. His courtroom work has centered on representing individuals charged with a range of offenses, handling arraignments, pretrial motions, and bench and jury trials when they arise.
Laird's work blends courtroom experience with the everyday demands of running a small practice. He has handled matters that require quick decision-making and frequent client contact.
