Dylan Hughes is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2000 and holds bar number 209113. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Hughes is a partner at Gibbs Law Group LLP, a law firm specializing in class action and mass tort litigation, located at 1111 Broadway, Suite 2100, Oakland, California. He also serves as of counsel to Girard Gibbs LLP, a firm based in San Francisco, California. Mr. Hughes practices primarily in California and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Hughes earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, graduating in 2000. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995. During his time at UC Hastings, he gained practical experience through externships, including one with the Honorable Charles A. Legge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
Mr. Hughes concentrates his practice in the areas of class action and mass tort litigation, consumer law, and personal injury. He represents plaintiffs in cases involving defective products, telecommunications, credit cards, product liability, credit repair, employment misclassification, and wage and hour disputes under state and federal laws. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hughes has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Alameda, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Notably, he was involved in the In Re General Motors Dex-Cool Cases, achieving settlements that provided cash reimbursements to class members for vehicle repairs. Additionally, he participated in the In Re General Motors Cases, a certified California state court class action against General Motors alleging violations of California’s "Secret Warranty" law.
Mr. Hughes is an active member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the American Association for Justice, and the American Bar Association. He has been recognized by his peers and was selected to Super Lawyers for 2012 through 2026. He is fluent in English, allowing him to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
