About Drew J.

Drew J. DeVinney built his legal foundation at the University of Wisconsin Law School, earning his J.D. in 2011. He entered the barroom and the courtroom with a practical approach to legal problems. He took the classroom lessons and tested them against real cases.

Early in his career he spent time working at the Supreme Court of Wisconsin. That stint exposed him to appellate work and the procedural demands of high-level court practice. He later joined Richard B. Jacobson & Associates, LLC and then the Martin Law Office, S.C., roles that broadened his exposure to client work and courtroom procedure.

DeVinney holds admissions in several forums. He is licensed in Wisconsin and in California. He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Those credentials allow him to file matters at both the trial and appellate levels in state and federal systems.

Colleagues describe his courtroom manner as straightforward. He favors clear arguments and careful preparation. His background at the state supreme court and at private firms means he has seen files from both the administrative and client side. That perspective informs how he approaches pleadings, hearings and appeals.

He maintains professional ties through bar and trial organizations. He holds current membership in the Wisconsin Association of Justice. He also participates in local professional events and continuing education that keep him current on procedural changes and case law developments.

Over the years DeVinney has moved between public-facing roles and private practice. That balance has kept him involved in both courtroom advocacy and client counseling. He has worked on matters in Wisconsin courts and in federal court, and he has experience preparing appellate briefs and handling court filings at multiple levels.

His day-to-day work continues to center on representing clients in state and federal courts. He spends his time drafting pleadings, arguing motions and preparing cases for trial and appeal. He currently practices law focusing on litigation in the jurisdictions to which he is admitted.
