Douglas Kershaw Poulin is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Poulin earned his Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School in 2000. During his time at Boston College, he was actively involved in various moot court competitions, including winning the Wendell F. Grimes Moot Court Competition and being a semi-finalist in the Top Ten Best Brief and Outstanding Oral Advocate categories. He also participated in the Boston College Law School Mock Trial Competition and was a finalist in the A.B.A. Client Counseling Competition. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1997. At St. Andrews, he was a member of the Old Union Debating Society.
Mr. Poulin concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, business, and construction litigation. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving broker disputes, foreclosures, neighbor disputes, title insurance coverage, fraud, breach of contract, breach of lease, and landlord-tenant issues. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. He has successfully represented clients in construction defect cases, damages on behalf of contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers in mechanic's liens, stop notice, payment and performance bond actions.
Throughout his career, Mr. Poulin has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Contra Costa, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. Prior to joining Hughes Gill Cochrane Tinetti, P.C., he worked as an associate at The Williams Firm in Walnut Creek, California, from 2005 to 2024. He also served as an associate at Berding & Weil from 2004 to 2005, and at Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley from 2002 to 2004.
Mr. Poulin is an active member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association, participating in the Corporate Counsel and Business Attorneys and Real Estate Sections. He is also a member of the Economic Development Alliance for Business, the San Francisco Real Estate Exchange, the Belden Club Real Estate Organization, and the Building Owners and Managers Association. He holds memberships in the Bar of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, the Bar of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
