About Douglas E.
Douglas E. Fierberg built his path to the law from two very different campuses. He studied psychology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, then went on to earn a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School. Those early choices shaped the way he thinks about people and the way he prepares cases.
He has long practiced across multiple jurisdictions. He holds memberships in Maryland, Michigan and the District of Columbia and has been active in bar and trial groups for decades. He has been a member of the District of Columbia Bar since 1989 and joined the Michigan Bar in 2012. Over the years he became involved with both local and national professional organizations that concentrate on trial work and victims’ issues.
Fierberg’s career included a partnership he took on in 2002 at Sherman, Meehan, Curtain, AIN, P.C. That period broadened his courtroom experience and exposed him to complex litigation. He later established his own practice structure and has continued to represent clients in trial settings and related proceedings.
He participates in a number of professional associations. Current memberships include the American Association for Justice, the National Crime Victim Bar Association, the DC Trial Lawyers Association, the Michigan Association for Justice and the National Trial Lawyers Association. He also maintains ties to the DC Bar Association. Those group affiliations reflect repeated courtroom work and involvement in issues that arise before judges and juries.
Colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic. He prepares for trial but does not shy away from settlement when an agreement better serves a client’s interests. He draws on psychological training to evaluate witness testimony and to frame themes that jurors can understand. His training and courtroom work inform one another in routine ways.
Today he practices under The Fierberg National Law Group, PLLC. He handles litigation across the jurisdictions where he is admitted and remains active in professional organizations that center on trial practice and victims’ rights. His current work focuses on representing clients in litigation in Maryland, Michigan and the District of Columbia.
