About Dorothy

Dorothy Renz took a conventional path into the law. She earned a B.A. from Boston College in 2006, majoring in political science and taking a minor in Middle Eastern and Islamic studies. Four years later she graduated from St. John's University School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2010.

After law school Renz entered private practice. She is admitted to practice in New York and has built her career there. Her resume lists membership in the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association, ties that keep her connected to professional developments and local court practices.

Renz works as an associate at Duffy & Duffy, PLLC. In that role she has taken on responsibilities common to associates at small and mid-sized firms: drafting pleadings and motions, conducting legal research, and preparing clients for hearings and settlements. Colleagues describe her as methodical and thorough in courtroom preparation and in the paper work that precedes it.

Her academic background gives her a layered perspective. Political science offered frameworks for analyzing institutions and public policy. Studies in Middle Eastern and Islamic topics gave her broader cultural context that can be useful when clients’ matters touch on international issues or diverse communities. Law school training then translated those perspectives into practical skills for litigation and client counseling.

Outside of case work Renz maintains professional ties through bar association membership. Those memberships provide access to continuing legal education and local networks of judges and practitioners. They also place her in conversations about changes to New York law and courtroom procedure.

Colleagues and clients who have worked with Renz note a steady, careful approach to casework. She favors clear organization and attention to deadlines. Currently she practices at Duffy & Duffy, PLLC, representing clients in matters brought under New York law.
