About Donald E. Gies
Donald E. Gies III earned his J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2019 after completing undergraduate studies at Oklahoma State University, where he received a B.A. in Business with a concentration in Sports Management in 2009. His academic path combined classroom work and practical training, preparing him for work that crosses courtroom and alternative dispute resolution settings.
After law school he moved into practice at Gies Law Office, PLLC. He assumed the role of managing lawyer in 2019. That position put him in charge of case strategy, client intake, and the day-to-day running of the office. Colleagues describe him as methodical and direct in handling administrative and legal tasks.
Gies is licensed to practice in Oklahoma and is admitted to appear before the Federal Circuit. He also holds certification as a State Certified Mediator from the Supreme Court of Oklahoma, a credential that allows him to lead settlement talks and mediations under state rules. Those qualifications let him work on matters that may begin in state court and move to federal review, or that require neutral facilitation to reach a resolution outside the courtroom.
His practice combines advocacy and dispute resolution. In court he prepares briefs, handles filings, and represents clients in hearings or appeals where appropriate. In mediation he guides parties through negotiation, aiming to narrow issues and find practical settlements. He balances the adversarial demands of litigation with the problem-solving role of a mediator, moving between positions as the case requires.
Gies maintains active involvement in his office operations while handling client matters. He oversees how files are managed and ensures procedural requirements are met for cases proceeding through state and federal channels. That administrative role informs how he approaches casework; it keeps him attentive to deadlines, client communication, and cost considerations.
Outside of formal roles, he holds current membership in professional associations related to the practice of law. He remains engaged in continuing legal education and in the procedural developments that affect litigation and mediation in Oklahoma and on the Federal Circuit.
He currently focuses his practice on representing clients in Oklahoma courts and before the Federal Circuit and on serving as a state certified mediator.
