About Don

Don Foty earned his law degree from the University of Houston in 2006 after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Business Honors. He moved from a business-oriented undergraduate background into law school and completed the J.D. program on schedule. The combination of finance training and legal education shaped an early interest in complex civil matters.

He joined Kennedy Hodges, LLP in 2006 and has served there as a partner. That long tenure places him at a law firm known for handling a range of civil litigation. Over the years he has been part of teams handling contested matters that require litigation planning, deposition practice, and courtroom preparation. He works alongside colleagues on cases that progress through pretrial stages and, where necessary, to trial.

Foty’s professional memberships reflect an attention to trial practice and to broader bar activities. He holds memberships in the American Association for Justice and the American Bar Association. Locally, he is a member of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association. He is also listed in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and belongs to the State Bar of Texas. He joined the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and its Advocates program early; records show involvement in the Advocates program beginning in 2007. He became a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas in 2009 and remains active in that organization.

Those associations indicate an attorney who takes part in continuing legal education and professional networking. He participates in meetings, professional development programs, and the types of collaborative work those groups encourage. That engagement supports the trial work done at his firm and informs strategy on complex civil matters.

Within the firm, Foty handles litigation tasks that range from case intake through settlement negotiations and trial readiness. He works with clients, expert witnesses, and co-counsel to prepare evidence and testimony. His background in finance informs aspects of case analysis, particularly in matters that involve economic loss or damages calculations.

As a partner at Kennedy Hodges, LLP, Foty remains active in trial-oriented bar groups and in firm litigation practice. He currently practices as a partner at Kennedy Hodges, LLP, where his work centers on civil litigation and courtroom advocacy.
