About Dilip

Dilip Paliath built his legal foundation at Boston College before moving on to the University of Virginia School of Law. He arrived in law school with a classical undergraduate background and left with a professional credential from one of the region’s larger law programs. Those years shaped how he approaches legal work: methodical, attentive to precedent, and oriented toward proof rather than pitch.

After law school he entered private practice and spent a significant portion of his career at Preller, Preller, & Paliath. There he worked on the day-to-day demands of running a practice. He learned the practical skills that sustain client work—document preparation, courtroom procedure, and the ordinary negotiations that resolve many disputes. The firm environment also exposed him to the administrative side of law practice and to managing cases across different forums.

Paliath is admitted to practice in Maryland and in the District of Columbia. Those admissions have shaped where and how he works. He has handled matters that required coordination between local rules, court calendars, and agency processes in both jurisdictions. His experience at the firm gave him regular contact with counsel and clients operating in the Mid-Atlantic legal landscape.

Colleagues and former clients describe Paliath as a lawyer who prefers clear communication over elaborate rhetoric. He tends to present issues directly, in plain language, and to move steadily toward resolution. In hearings or negotiations he focuses on the concrete facts and the applicable law. He also spends time preparing written materials meant to stand up under close review.

Outside of the courtroom, his background—Boston College followed by UVA Law—has informed how he organizes legal work. He places weight on research and on building a written record that supports a client’s position. That habit carried through his years at Preller, Preller, & Paliath and into his ongoing practice.

Today Paliath continues to serve clients in the region. He is licensed in Maryland and the District of Columbia and maintains a practice that handles matters in both jurisdictions.
