About DeVonna

DeVonna Ponthieu earned her Juris Doctor from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, completing her studies in 2001 after beginning law school in 1998. Her time at LSU placed her in a law school known for producing lawyers who practice across the state. The degree established the credential she would use to build a practice rooted in Louisiana law.

Her career has been anchored in the state courts of Louisiana. She serves clients through the Law Office of DeVonna Ponthieu, a solo practice that handles matters for individuals and local entities. Over the years she has combined courtroom work with involvement in the legal community. That mix has defined much of her professional life.

Ponthieu has been active in bar and civic groups. She served as president of the 21st Judicial Bar Association from 2009 to 2010 and remains a member of that organization. Later she took on leadership in the Florida Parishes Inns of Court, serving as its president from 2014 to 2015. Those roles put her in regular contact with judges, fellow attorneys, and newer lawyers seeking mentorship and practical guidance on practice and ethics.

Colleagues describe her as a consistent presence in local legal circles. Her leadership years came at moments when courthouse cooperation and professional development were pressing concerns. She participated in programs intended to foster collegiality among lawyers and to support professional standards in the region's legal community. She has balanced those responsibilities while managing the day-to-day demands of a small firm.

Her work is carried out under the authority to practice in Louisiana. Clients who come to her office find an attorney who works within the state system and who understands the local rules and procedures. She continues to maintain ties to the legal organizations that shaped parts of her career, and she remains involved in professional activities in the area.

Ponthieu operates the Law Office of DeVonna Ponthieu and centers her current practice on serving clients in Louisiana.
