About Joseph Barron Odom
Joseph Barron Odom Sr. studied at Louisiana Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to attend the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University and received his J.D. in 2019. His time in law school included practical placements that prefaced the variety of roles he would take on after graduation.
While still a student, Odom took a steady stream of clerkships that exposed him to firm practice across Louisiana. In 2017 he held summer positions at Hammond, Sills, Adkins, Guice, Noah & Perkins and at Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips. The following year he returned to Taylor, Porter as a spring law clerk and spent summers at McGlinchey Stafford and Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson. He also served as a law clerk for Breazeale in 2018. Those early roles involved research, drafting and supporting litigation teams on matters handled by midsize and regional firms.
After law school he moved into associate roles. In 2019 he worked as a lawyer at Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson, L.L.P. He joined Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway APLC as a lawyer in 2020, and later held positions at both Cook, Yancey and at Morris & Dewett LLC during 2022. His practice has been rooted in firm environments where case preparation and client counsel are routine parts of the work.
Odom holds a Louisiana law license through the state bar. Outside the office he maintains membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a post he joined in 2021. That affiliation sits alongside his professional life and reflects a continued connection to veteran communities.
He later became affiliated with Lawrence & Odom LLP, where he now practices. Colleagues describe him as methodical and steady in handling client matters. He keeps a practical approach to problem solving and spends time on legal research and court work.
His career path shows a steady progression from summer clerkships to full-time practice at a series of Louisiana firms. He has moved through positions that exposed him to a range of firm practices and responsibilities. He currently practices at Lawrence & Odom LLP and focuses on legal matters arising under Louisiana law.
