About Desiree Marie
Desiree Marie Bedasa built a career that moves between classrooms and courtrooms. She earned a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in 2015 after completing a B.A. in sociology at the University of Texas at Austin. Her early professional life began outside law schools, in classrooms where she taught special education through Teach for America in 2010.
That classroom experience shaped how she approaches clients. After law school she entered practice as an associate at Angela Faye Brown & Associates in 2015. She returned to family-focused work when she joined Hargrave Family Law as an associate in 2019. That same year she took on a leadership role as managing lawyer and owner at Nwofia Bedasa, PLLC. In 2021 she opened her own firm, Desiree Bedasa, PLLC, and she continues to operate that practice.
Her resume reflects a mix of public-service and private-practice roles. Bedasa served on the Legal Services to the Poor in Civil Matters State Bar Committee in an advisory capacity from 2018 to 2019. She has been active in bar-related educational programs, including participation in LeadershipSBOT in 2017–2018. She is also a member of the Texas Bar College and the Texas Bar Foundation. Outside the bar, she joined the Junior League of Richardson in 2019 and has held the finance vice president role there while maintaining membership in the group.
Colleagues and clients describe Bedasa as methodical. Cases that involve children and education often call for clarity and patience, traits she developed in special education classrooms. Her years at Hargrave Family Law added courtroom and negotiation experience in family matters. Her advisory work for legal services to low-income Texans gave her exposure to civil justice issues beyond private practice.
Bedasa’s practice path shows a pattern: grounding in student-centered work, followed by steady advancement through associate roles to firm leadership. She has navigated both the administrative responsibilities of running a small firm and the day-to-day demands of client representation. Her memberships in professional organizations reflect an interest in continuing legal education and community involvement.
Today she maintains her law office in Texas and handles matters arising from her prior roles in family and civil legal contexts. Her current practice focuses on representing clients in family and related civil matters in Texas.
