About Derrick
Derrick Walker earned a B.A. in Government from the College of William and Mary in 1994 and a J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2000. Those academic years set the groundwork for a career spent largely in courtrooms. He combined a liberal arts grounding with several years of legal education before entering practice in Virginia.
He began his professional legal work in the early 2000s. By 2004 he was listed as a lawyer at Breit Drescher Imprevento & Walker, P.C., where he handled matters that required courtroom presence and procedural knowledge. That stint gave him practical exposure to litigation and client representation in state and federal filings.
In 2015 he took on a trial lawyer role at Allen, Allen, Allen and Allen, P.C. The move placed him in a larger firm environment and in a position that emphasized trial preparation and courtroom advocacy. He is associated with Allen & Allen’s Richmond office, where his docket has included appearances in federal and bankruptcy courts in Virginia.
Walker has been active in professional associations for much of his career. He holds several roles in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, serving as Governor-at-Large and Chair of the Federal Liaison group. His name also appears on past leadership rolls for VTLA committees such as Diversity, Fundraising, Insurance Legislative Subcommittee and Strategic Planning. He serves as a VTLA PAC trustee. On the national level he has been involved with the American Association for Justice, including service as a Virginia governor to the AAJ Board of Governors from 2010 to 2012 and a Minority Caucus delegate in 2013. He has attended the Boyd Graves Conference since 2008.
Those roles reflect a long-running commitment to professional engagement and the business of litigation. He has maintained admissions to the Commonwealth of Virginia and to federal courts across the state. His bar privileges extend to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia and to the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for both districts.
Over the years Walker’s practice has emphasized trial work and federal filings. He regularly appears in district and bankruptcy courts and continues to build a practice centered on litigation and courtroom advocacy. He practices at Allen & Allen’s Richmond office and handles civil trials, federal litigation and bankruptcy-related matters.
