About Derek S.

Derek S. Wild built a steady legal path that began in upstate New York. He earned a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in Public Law from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2007. He went on to complete his J.D. at Syracuse University College of Law in 2010. Those years in school gave him classroom exposure to criminal and public law issues and set the stage for his courtroom work.

After law school he entered private practice. In 2011 he joined Anelli Xavier, P.C. as an associate lawyer. There he handled client matters and gained courtroom experience. His time at the firm provided practical grounding in litigation and client counseling. He also began participating in professional associations during this period.

Memberships soon became a steady part of his professional life. He joined the New York State Bar Association in 2011 and the National College of DUI Defense the same year. In 2018 he added membership in the Monroe County Bar Association. Those memberships reflect ongoing engagement with peers, continuing education, and specialty training in areas such as impaired-driving defense.

In 2017 he left private practice as an employee and launched his own law office. Since then he has operated under his own name, handling cases and running the day-to-day work of a small firm. Managing a practice required shifting from an associate’s role to one that includes intake, strategy, and administrative oversight. He has continued to build experience in court and to represent individual clients on contested matters.

Colleagues and associates describe him as methodical in preparing cases and straightforward in explaining options to people who may be facing stressful legal situations. He draws on his academic grounding in public law and his years of courtroom exposure when counseling clients. His involvement with the National College of DUI Defense signals particular attention to impaired-driving cases and the technical aspects that such matters can involve.

He maintains current memberships in state and local bar organizations and continues professional development through specialized groups. He also participates in local bar activities and remains active in matters that affect courtroom practice and client representation.

He currently practices through his own firm, handling criminal defense matters including DUI-related cases, and represents clients across New York.
