About Dennis
Dennis Pawelek built his legal foundation at the University of Utah, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree before moving on to the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the same university for his Juris Doctor. He stayed local for his education and has continued to make his professional life in Utah. His academic path placed him in the state courts early and kept him close to the legal community that shapes his daily work.
After law school, Pawelek entered private practice in Utah. Over the years he has concentrated his practice on criminal defense, representing clients in municipal and state courts across the state. He handles arraignments, pretrial motions, hearings and trials, and he often appears before judges and juries in county courthouses. Courtroom work makes up a substantial portion of his practice, and he spends much of his time preparing cases for contested proceedings.
Pawelek is active in the professional community. He is a current member of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where he participates in ongoing education and case law discussions that affect defense practice in the state. That connection keeps him tied to peers who handle similar matters and to developments in criminal procedure and sentencing.
At the office level, he practices at Pawelek & Gale Lawyers at Law. His work there includes client interviews, negotiation of plea matters when appropriate, and trial preparation. He manages a caseload that includes misdemeanor and felony matters, and he consults regularly with investigators and experts when cases require specialized input. In addition to courtroom appearances, he advises clients on collateral issues that can follow a criminal charge, such as driver’s license consequences and probation conditions.
Clients and colleagues describe him as pragmatic in approaching case strategy. He tends to emphasize practical solutions that address immediate procedural needs while preparing for longer-term litigation risks. Outside the courtroom he attends continuing legal education and association events that inform his practice.
He is admitted to practice in Utah and maintains his practice at Pawelek & Gale Lawyers at Law. He currently practices criminal defense in Utah.
